Mental health stigma at times can stop us from seeking treatment and creating a support system. Do you ever find yourself wishing that you could communicate your feelings, needs and wants to others in a healthy way? I believe that we are all worthy of respect and that we have the potential to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves.

Challenges in life are inevitable, however, having the knowledge of healthy coping skills that can be put into practice when facing future situations can help us to become resilient. My goal is to provide the support that you need to become the best version of yourself.

KNOW YOUR THERAPIST

WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR DEGREE(S) IN AND WHERE FROM?

I graduated from Utah State University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. I gained experience from child welfare and mental health. Four years later, I decided to get a Master’s degree in Social Work from Utah State University and graduated in 2020.

SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

After I graduated with my bachelor's degree, I worked in child protection services for 2 years. I then worked for a community mental health agency for 3 years before I became a therapist. While working towards my master’s degree, I was able to gain experience in crisis intervention, inpatient and outpatient treatment.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?

I want to make a difference in the lives of others. I want to see my clients succeed and reach their full potential.

WHATS YOUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?

My goal is to serve as a guide for you and to provide the support that you need to achieve your goals. As well as to create a safe environment for you to feel open to talk about challenges you might be experiencing.

WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU GIVE CLIENTS?

During our first session, I will explore how you feel about getting assignments. I want my clients to remember that they are in charge of their treatment plans and can make the choice to complete assignments. I like to assign clients books to read, videos to watch, journal prompts and/or mindfulness exercises that can be practiced as needed. In addition, I like to follow up on progress made with assignments during the next session.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION WITH YOU?

I would like for you to review the informed consent form that will be emailed to you prior to our first session. Meeting someone new for the first time can be nerve wracking, which is understandable. Take a deep breath and be yourself!
