Shalise Reid
MSW-Intern
As a Master of Social Work intern, I bring a trauma-informed approach grounded in empathy, curiosity, and compassion. Drawing from evidence-based practices like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing, I support individuals in navigating life’s challenges with resilience and purpose. My approach is strengths-based, rooted in the belief that every person holds innate abilities and wisdom that can guide them toward healing. I strive to create a non-judgmental, supportive space where clients feel truly seen and heard. My goal is to empower each person to uncover their unique strengths, develop practical tools for change, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling. I find deep meaning in walking alongside clients as they grow through their struggles and rediscover their capacity for transformation.

WHATS YOUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?
WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU GIVE CLIENTS?
I don’t necessarily give homework or assignments, but I do invite clients to apply what we’ve discussed and decide how they want to move forward.
I’ve always been drawn to the idea that even in the darkest moments, people have the capacity to grow, heal, and reclaim their stories. This belief fuels my passion for creating safe, supportive spaces where others can tap into their inner resilience, overcome obstacles, and build lives that reflect their true potential. Helping others discover that strength is both humbling and motivating.
The concept of resiliency inspired me forward along this path. Witnessing how individuals can endure pain, adapt to challenges, and still move forward with hope reveals the incredible strength of the human spirit.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION WITH YOU?
Come as you are, and I’ll meet you there!
