Co-owner and founder of Family Solutions Counseling

Pronouns: she/her/hers

As a co-founder of Family Solutions Counseling, my goal was to establish a practice that serves under-served populations in our community. We live in a beautiful area geographically, and the people here are typically kind, caring, and family and religion-oriented. That being said, those that do not feel they fall into the majority groups that exist locally often feel disconnected from this community at best, or devalued at worst. As the parent of two LGBT children, it was important to me that there exists a safe environment to serve this population. When we opened our practice in 2017, we primarily served people who identify as “ex-Mormon” or LGBTQIAP+ . We continue to serve these populations and provide annual charitable contributions to local LGBT groups. As we’ve continued to grow, we’ve recognized the need to be more inclusive of everyone in our community as mental health, family, or addiction challenges touch every family in some way. We’ve selected therapists in our practice with a varied spectrum of life experiences, personal and religious beliefs, clinical experience, education and certifications. We know you’ll find someone here you can feel comfortable working with to become your best self. Our entire administration team is very invested in making sure each client who enters our practice feels comfortable, safe, and has a healing experience. Please reach out to us directly to share any feedback you may have for us.

As a member of the administrative team at Family Solutions Counseling, I want therapy to be a successful experience for all of the clients at FSC. Questions often arise about therapy and therapists, I  am here to answer those questions. Some questions you may have are: I don't feel that my therapist is a good match for me, what now? Do you take my insurance? What do sessions cost? I don't understand my treatment goals - how can I find those out? Which therapist is a good fit for me? What resources are available to assist me with payment? I am here to answer any questions and address any concerns that you may have. I also love connecting with people in our community. I have participated in suicide prevention events, Co directing and assisting with the Logan Pride festival and volunteering in our local schools. Family Solutions Counseling clients and staff members are my top priority.  Please reach out to me at any time, I love hearing from our clients and want to help.  My goal is to make your therapeutic experience the best that it can be!

KAREN LACY

Co-owner and Clinical Director of Family Solutions Counseling
Pronouns: she/her/hers

As a mental health therapist for over 22 years, I have worked with all ages and all kinds of emotional challenges. Some of the most common are relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and trauma. For 17 of those years, I have gained valuable experience through my work in community mental health, for private companies and for military members at Hill Air Force Base. During my time at the base, I became trained and experienced in treating trauma with a well-studied and proven technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This has been an extremely valuable method for helping clients reduce the disturbance level caused by trauma.  I also am very committed to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) , a therapy to help reduce distress, regulate emotions, and improve relationships. I am enjoying learning about Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, a relatively new therapy which can also help clients gain deeper, more lasting changes in their mental health.

Recently, I merged my company with Family Solutions Counseling, with whom I have worked for several years. I have been impressed with Family Solutions’ commitment to serve the underserved, their effective use of current therapy methods, and innovative contributions to the future of therapy. Many of our FSC therapists are also trained and skilled in the use of EMDR. We at FSC have a very thriving comprehensive DBT program from which many people are currently benefiting.

I grew up in Utah, Illinois, and California. I attended BYU for several years and graduated with my Bachelor’s in Social Work from USU and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Utah. My husband and I live in Providence, Utah.  We have been married for many years and have six children and eleven grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with family, playing piano, reading, gardening, camping, bicycling, seeing new places, and being outdoors.

I have found my work as a therapist to be very rewarding. I look forward to many more years of working with helping each client to achieve their goals to a happier, more fulfilling life.

Co-owner and Supervisor of Family Solutions Counseling

After working several years in community mental health, child welfare, and medical social work, I began to develop a desire to shift my focus as a clinician. I wanted a career change. I felt I was unable to give people adequate time and dedication needed in working for corporate mental health organizations. I wanted to be able to help the individual, couple, and family on their terms. I wanted a change of pace to feel like I could truly make a difference in people’s lives; While also managing my own work and home life balance of being a father, husband, and pursuing my own passions in life. I found that thing at Family Solutions Counseling. This is a place I truly believe in! Family Solutions really focuses on this idea of being kind to yourself throughout this process, going at your pace, and having self-compassion. We have a team of clinicians who see people as people, and not just clients. We believe in the staff here and their abilities. You will be able to find a therapist that you can connect with even if that means switching therapists 2-3 times to find the best fit for you. This is your treatment and it’s okay to take ownership of your experience and feel empowered to make decisions that are best for you. Therapy is all about making the uncomfortable become more comfortable. Family Solutions is invested in this experience. It is the reason I pivoted in my career and am invested in helping others here at FSC.
