DBT GROUPS & WORKSHOPS

Evidence-Based Therapeutic Modality

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive behavioral intervention designed to treat individuals who struggle with difficulty regulating emotions and problematic cognitive and behavioral patterns. In Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, “dialectical” means the integration of opposites (aka- finding the balance between opposites). In DBT, the main “dialectical” tension, or balance, is between the opposite ideas of ACCEPTANCE and CHANGE. In this framework, DBT therapists balance treatment strategies of validation and problem solving. Skills taught in DBT treatment include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Each group is a 8 week group with the first two weeks focused on learning and incorporating mindfulness into your DBT practice.

"DBT has been the best decision of my life. Over the past 6 months of doing this my life has improved drastically. This course is amazing and everyone can benefit. I see and find myself using these skills without even realizing it... [group work] can help build trust between other members and group work helped me get more out of the material. Thank you for everything. I <3 DBT!!"

"I've learned so much from your classes. The way you have used supplemental materials with your curriculum has been very useful for me. It helps to make connections... You've been especially helpful for me and my questions and needs. Thank you so much - your patience and "mellowness" has especially made my time here so much easier."
