Are you in need of a safe place to share your thoughts, feelings and fears? Are you tired of hearing advice from others and need someone to talk to who can help you sort things out without judgment? You might feel like you have no control over your own thoughts, and even your life. Everyone tells you what to do, who you are and how to be. As much as they might be trying to help, it can lead to confusion and frustration when you can’t live up to everyone else’s expectations. You deserve to choose your own path and be able to share openly, explore your options in life and come to conclusions without fear of rejection or criticism.

I listen non judgmentally as we identify the thinking patterns that have held you back. I’ll teach you the skills to use when things feel out of control. I’ll coach you on how to move forward to reach your goals. When you’re down, I’ll be your support. When stuck, I offer motivation to help you break-free, when you’re ready to be the best version of yourself.

My life experiences have taught me to be open, accepting and compassionate. Growing up in a multicultural family setting, I understand the challenges of navigating life from a different perspective than most. As a former college athlete, I understand that lifestyle and mindset. I recognize how your own background can offer insight, strengths and solutions.

You are a  partner, parent, sibling and someone's child. You are also expected to be a provider, a protector, and caregiver even if you feel inadequate in these roles. How do you do everything for everyone else when you already feel overwhelmed on a daily basis? How do you live up to today's impossible standards of perfection when you question your own self-worth? How do you balance work and family and still have your own needs met? How do you even know what your own needs are?

With my kind and caring approach, you will learn how to connect with others without feeling drained. Whether in your parenting role, or romantic relationships, you will feel okay about taking time for yourself and developing your own hobbies and talents. We will strengthen your voice in your life, career, and relationships.

You will feel heard and understood.

You deserve to experience happiness in the many roles you are responsible to fulfill. We've all been in a place of not knowing how to balance parenting, relationships, community, and work responsibilities. Your needs matter too, so let's create your enjoyable, fulfilling life. Empowerment is something that many of us struggle to understand and find in our lives. Through motivational interviewing I will help you discover your talents and abilities. We will then use that to find self confidence. I want to help you find YOUR voice, I know that the person inside of you has a lot to say and I want you to be heard.

From a personal standpoint, I feel passionately about helping the LGBTQ community of Cache Valley. I am an advocate for LGBTQ beliefs and rights and I love working with individuals and families that are navigating their own journeys.

Additionally I love working with athletes and military families. As an athlete and military child myself, I want to help my clients as they recover from injuries, work through high demand athletic situations, navigate relationships and how to overcome family pressure.

Whatever it is that you find yourself struggling with, I am here to hear you and support you through your journey.

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

MAT, MSW Intern

There are an infinite number of variables that shape our experiences, how we interact with those around us, and ultimately who we are and how we behave in the present moment. Given that life is both joy and suffering, no problem is too trivial, nor too big, to be addressed.

Do you find yourself ruminating on the past or future? Do you struggle to find motivation for things you used to, or long to enjoy? Are you blanketed with anxiety, have a hard time maintaining healthy relationships, or feel unhappy in your body? Perhaps you know or have a feeling that a stressful or traumatic event is keeping you from moving forward. Within the context of our history, society, biology, and thought patterns, we can learn ways to cultivate joy and navigate our suffering.

Whether you are looking to therapy as a way to maintain your wellbeing, or whether you are seeking counseling to find a better way of being, we can work together to develop the tools and support that will help you along your way. Using a collaborative, if at times eccentric, approach to therapy, I will do my best to establish a safe and trusting space in our work together.

I enjoy working with you and coming up with solutions to build self-esteem and self-confidence. Having a solid base of who your are and what you stand for is really important to manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.  If you have the skills needed to be confident in yourself, you don't need to find validation from others to build you up.  I don't believe any person is 'broken' and many clients I have worked with quickly find solutions to rebuild their world from hurt and stress.

My main approach to therapy is to allow you to manage your own treatment.  I feel like I am here as a guide and can help work through stress, borderline personality disorder, women's issues, anxiety, depression, and many other facets of treatment; but I like to let the client remain in charge and seek out their own success rather than me giving it to them.

Asking for help or admitting that you need help is one of the hardest things that a person can do.  It really shouldn’t be as hard as it is to tell someone that we are struggling.  If I can make it easier for you to talk about the things that are bothering you and keeping you from being the person that you want to be, that is my goal.  We all have strengths and weaknesses; sometimes we focus too much on those weaknesses and negatives.  Using a strengths based approach, together, we can focus on finding solutions to those things that are holding you back.  In the world we live in today, do you know who could benefit from therapy?  Everyone, everyone could benefit from therapy.  We live in a crazy, scary world.  Don’t let your fears, negative thoughts, depression, anxiety, or anything else get in your way.  Be brave.  Together we can do this.

Using a generalist approach, we will find what works best for you and your situation.  Pulling from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, solution focused, and many other approaches I am confident we can find a way to help you get back on track.  I have experience working with children, teens, as well as adults.

ALLYSE “ALLY” NELSON

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Do these thoughts sound familiar? "I'm not enough" "Everything is too hard" "What if I fail?" "I don't matter". The first thing you need to know is that you are not alone in these thoughts. The second thing you need to know is that your brain is being rude. Not cool, brain.

My passion and purpose is to help people who struggle with anxiety (perfectionism, shame, self doubt, etc.) to develop healthy coping skills and new thought patterns so they can feel calm, confident, and capable. Maybe these old patterns served a purpose at one time, but the fact that you’re here today tells me that you don’t need them anymore! I want to empower you through self care, self compassion, and lots of self love to connect back to your worth.

You are the expert on you. My job is to help you tap into that expertise. I do this by offering skills from Mindfulness, CBT, REBT, and additional approaches based on your needs. If you come to therapy with a willingness to be vulnerable and an open mind, you will experience peace and healing. Maybe your brain will even start being cool to you? It’s obvious to me how incredibly capable you are. Throughout the process of this mental health work, I think you’ll come to a similar conclusion: You got this. But I’m here for the times that you need an extra reminder.
